Kris E. Kennedy, MD, FACOG

Dr. Kennedy has practiced in Virginia Beach since 1989.  She graduated AOA from the Medical College of Virginia and she completed her residency at Magee Women’s Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh.  

Dr. Kennedy graduated from the Williamson Institute of Health Care Leadership Fellowship in Patient Safety in 2007. She won the Armstrong award for Best Academic Patient Safety Project in 2007. She became a fellow of  the Claude Moore Physician Leadership Institute in 2006.

Dr. Kennedy is the Chairman of the Department of OB/GYN at Virginia Beach General  Hospital. She serves on the Sentara Women’s Health Clinical Effectiveness Committee.

  • She serves as a physician advisor for the Sentara Electronic Medical Record (Epic) project.
  • She served as the Chairman of the Quality Management Committee of Mid-Atlantic Women’s Care for 5 years.
  • She served on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Physician’s Network and the Virginia Beach Ambulatory Surgical Center.

She is very interested in women’s wellness, pelvic support problems, and patient safety.  She has delivered over 2000 of Virginia Beach’s children.  In 2008 Dr. Kennedy retired from the practice of Obstetrics.  She now restricts her practice to Gynecology only.

She is married to Dr. Craig Derkay and they have two great children, Alex and Andy.


Janice P. Levin, MD, FACOG

Dr. Levin was born and raised in New Jersey. The University of Virginia awarded her undergraduate degree. She received her Medical Degree and completed her residency training from the Medical College of Virginia. She has been practicing since 1992 and currently limits her practice to Gynecology patients. Dr. Levin and her husband, Dr. Larry Levin, are busy raising two young children and in her spare time she enjoys reading, dance, theatre and spending time with her family.


Craig H. Ruetzel, MD, FACOG

Dr. Ruetzel moved to Virginia Beach in 1992 after completing residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree at Duke University, and medical degree from the University of Texas. He has served as Chairman of the Department of OB/GYN at both Sentara Bayside and Sentara VBGH and is President of the Medical Staff of Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

His practice interests include the impact of exercise on women’s health, especially during pregnancy, as well as laparoscopic hysterectomy and outpatient correction of urinary incontinence.

Tracy B. Wright, MD, FACOG

Dr. Wright was born in Paterson, New Jersey and was raised in Hackensack, New Jersey and Manassas, Virginia. She received her undergraduate degree and her Medical Degree from the University of Virginia. Her residency training was completed at the University of Rochester. Dr. Wright has previously served as the Chairperson, Department of OB/GYN, Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and has been in practice since 1996. Inside the office, her special interests include low and high risk obstetrics, adolescent gynecology, and endoscopic surgery. Her outside interests include gourmet cooking, singing, traveling and reading.
